North Point Scores Three in the 6th to Beat Broadneck
Broadneck stayed in it until the end, but North Point pulled away late in an 8-5 victory at the Sectional Semi-Final game on Saturday. The game was tied at five with North Point batting in the bottom of the sixth when Ethan Martinez doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring Logan Handwork who reached on an error.
The Bruins had got things started in the first inning when Sophomore Matt Isaac drove in three when he homered down the left field line.
Starter Ethan Martinez was the winning pitcher for North Point. He lasted six innings, allowing three hits and five runs while striking out eight. Zane Lehosky threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen recording the last three outs to earn the save for North Point.
Nick Gatton took the loss for the visiting Bruins. He surrendered three runs on three hits over one inning, striking out two and walking one. Dillon Smith started the game for the Bruins. He surrendered five runs on eight hits over five innings, striking out three and walking none.
