Both teams were strong on the pitcher’s mound on Monday, but Northeast was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over Broadneck Bruins. Dillon Smith started the game for Broadneck and recorded 11 outs. Smith allowed six hits and three runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out two.
Shriver was on the mound for Northeast. He lasted six and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out eight.
Reilly Joyce threw two and a third shutout innings out of the bullpen for the Bruins.
Ryan Smolen went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Bruins in hits.
Northeast totaled eight hits.
Broadneck returns to action tomorrow when they travel to Chesapeake High School, 4 pm.
