Broadneck High School would like to announce the resignation of girls basketball Head Coach Mrs. Gail Davis. Coach Davis steps away with a heavy heart as she tends to a variety of family responsibilities. Coach Davis has led the Lady Bruins basketball program for the last six years after serving one year as an assistant coach. She created a positive culture that has allowed many student athletes to enjoy success. She leaves the program in outstanding condition and her hard work has laid the foundation for future success as well.
Coach Davis submitted the following statement in addressing her decision: “I want to take this opportunity to thank the current Broadneck administration, especially Principal Jim Todd and the Athletic Director, Kevin Necessary for supporting me and my decision to step down as Head Coach of the Broadneck girls basketball program. I was provided the opportunity to coach at Broadneck by former Athletic Director, Ken Kazmarek, and the opportunity to teach at Broadneck by the former Principal, Dr. David Smith. I am forever grateful to both of these men for bringing me into the Broadneck family. Coaching at Broadneck has allotted me the platform to develop athletes who are passionate about competition and who are committed to collaborating to achieve a common goal. I have been fortunate to coach amazing young women whose strength and intelligence on the court have transitioned them into successful students and professionals in the workforce. I have enjoyed every second of coaching at Broadneck. I have been surrounded by a hard-working and loyal staff to whom I owe much gratitude. Thank you to my administration and coaching colleagues who have made my years so enjoyable. Thank you to all of my players, former and present, who have worked diligently for our girls program. In addition, I want to thank the dedicated families of my players throughout my tenure who provided support for their daughters and for the girls basketball program. Lastly, I would like to thank my husband, Emmett, and our three sons Emmett (BHS 2016), Shane (BHS 2018), and Brendan (BHS 2020) for their encouragement and love. Without their support and willingness to sacrifice family time, coaching would not have been a possibility for me.”
Broadneck High School would like to thank Coach Davis for all of her many contributions to both the girls basketball program and the athletic department. We would also like to wish both Coach Davis and her family well in the future!
