Good afternoon, BHS families!
Our Boys Basketball team has earned a place in the State Semi-Finals after defeating Meade High School this past Friday evening to become 4A East Regional Champions!
The #2 Broadneck Bruins will face #3 Richard Montgomery Rockets on Thursday, March 14 at 9:00pm at the Xfinity Center at the University of Maryland. The winner of this game will play for the State Championship on Saturday, March 16.
In an effort to pack the stands with as many Bruins as possible, we are offering a round-trip transportation/game ticket package for only $15.00. The cost of the MPSSAA game ticket is $10.00, and the remaining $5.00 will go toward the cost of the bus. Our Athletics Boosters has generously offered to cover the remainder of the bus cost so that the trip can be affordable to all students.
Below you will find a copy of the permission form that is required for a student to travel on the bus and attend the game. Paper copies of this form are also available in the office at BHS. Students who choose to ride the bus do not need to purchase a ticket separately on the MPSSAA or gofan.com website – BHS Athletics Administration will secure tickets for all students who turn in the permission form and fee.
The bus will depart Broadneck High School at 7:00pm on Thursday, March 14. Upon conclusion of the game, the bus will return to Broadneck High School at approximately 11:30pm and students must be picked up promptly by a parent/guardian. Should we need more than one bus, students will be assigned to buses in the order in which they turn in forms. All forms and fees are due to Coach Kazmarek or Ms. Kennelly no later than 2:30pm on Wednesday, March 13.
Students who ride the bus to Xfinity Center must ride the bus home from Xfinity Center – they may not arrange for alternate transportation home. Likewise, students who do not ride the bus to Xfinity Center will not be permitted to ride the bus home from Xfinity Center – they will have to arrange for alternate transportation home.
If you prefer to make your own ticket purchases and transportation arrangements, general admission tickets to the State Semi-Finals are available online on the MPSSAA website.
Our efforts to coordinate bus transportation and secure group tickets for participating students are aimed at providing safe, school-approved transportation and supervision for our BRUINATION students.
This is a very rare, exciting and once-in-a-high-school-career opportunity that we want as many of our students as possible to experience. The last time the Bruins were in the Boys Basketball State Semi-Finals, none of our current students were even born. We know this incredible school community opportunity will provide lifelong memories to our Bruins.
